The banner of environmental protection will not fall, and plant leather will eventually be the air vent. These plants will be the most potential "fabric king"

Release time:2023-05-09

Whether derived from animal dermis or synthetic leather, it has a wide range of uses in our daily lives due to its soft, breathable, wear-resistant, and high strength characteristics. From the production of gloves, shoes and clothing, belts, and luggage, to the production of cars and furniture, there are instances of genuine leather materials.

However, in recent years, with the increasing awareness of animal and environmental protection in society, traditional sources of dermis and synthetic leather production models have gradually been rejected by people. How to reduce the demand for and destruction of natural resources while also meeting humanity's pursuit of a quality of life? Scientists are beginning to try to use the wisdom of nature and the concept of environmental protection first to find new sustainable substitute products for leather, in order to meet people's needs for high-quality materials such as leather.

Continuously innovating pure leather

In fact, pure leather is no longer considered a particularly new material in the field of textile materials. Until now, artificial non animal leather has become the preferred material for many mid to low grade leather products, with low cost, mass production capability, and a texture very similar to real leather.

The main component of leather is collagen. Collagen molecules crisscross longitudinally at a certain distance to form a collagen fiber. Collagen fibers pile up horizontally, forming a large bundle of collagen fibers. These fiber bundles interpenetrate and intersect horizontally and vertically, some of which separate from the main trunk and re wrap with other fiber bundles to form another fiber bundle, ultimately forming a complex three-dimensional network structure, which is also the source of leather's density and strength.
